Richard Giangiulio joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1969. He was principal trumpet for 24 years, and since 1993 has served as co-principal trumpet. Mr. Giangiulio holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School, and was awarded First Prize from the Paris Conservatory where he studied with Maurice Andre as a Fullbright Scholar. In 1967, Mr. Giangiulio was a First Medal winner in the Geneva International Trumpet Competition. He has appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony, the Knoxville Symphony and at festivals in Ansbach, Germany, Lucerne, Switzerland and Lieksa, Finland. Mr. Giangiulio has recorded seven albums of solo and chamber music for Crystal Records. Mr. Giangiulio is also busy with an active conducting career. He was Assistant Conductor for educational concerts with the Dallas Symphony from 1977 - 1982, developing and conducting multi-age youth and park concerts. In 1979 he became Music Director and Conductor of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, a position he still holds today. In 1993 he also became Music Director and Conductor of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, Texas. |
